Support Your Orchestra
The Kāpiti Concert Orchestra has been providing musical opportunities for players and audiences in the Kāpiti region since 2004. The orchestra generally performs three main concerts a year, and the Kāpiti Light Orchestra provides concerts to retirement villages, niche audiences and supports other community events. The orchestra performs standard concert repertoire as well as other music to attract and entertain different audiences. We are conducted by professional conductors and engage well-known professional musicians as soloists. Young musicians and composers are regularly provided the opportunity to play as soloists or have their works performed by the orchestra.
Kapiti Concert Orchestra is a registered charity (CC35419) and Incorporated Society, and is managed by volunteers. Players pay a subscription fee per concert, and audiences pay an entrance fee. Major concerts cost over $6,000 each and the orchestra relies heavily on grants. To reduce our reliance on grants we are seeking sponsorship. There are a range of options ranging from as little as $150. Your sponsorship is tax deductible.

Why do we need your support? |
The Opportunities |
Benefits to You |
Venue hire |
Te Raukura ki Kāpiti is a purpose built performance venue in Raumati. The orchestra hires the venue for two concerts per year, as other halls in the region do not have the acoustic capability to handle larger orchestral works or size of the orchestra required for these larger works. The venue hire fee includes both the concert, and rehearsals. |

ResidentConductor |
Our resident Conductor for 2025-2027 is Donald Armstrong, Associate Concert Master of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Donald is responsible for growing musicianship and ensemble playing, by providing continuity across a number of years. He has completed one three year term as resident conductor from 2022-2024, and we are delighted that he has agreed to another term. |

For two concerts a year, we engage professional players or singers as soloists. Past soloists have included: Bridget Douglas (Flute); Anna Gawn; Coral Trimmer; Douglas Beilman, Inbal Megiddo; Michael Houstoun; Edward Allen; Peter Barber; Helene Pohl. One other concert is generally dedicated to supporting young soloists or community groups. |

Sponsor a player |
While we have a large group of core of players, for larger symphonic works, specialist instrumentation, or to provide better balance between sections, we need to contribute to costs of players coming from further afield. These are professional musicians who help boost the overall quality of the orchestra. |

Kāpiti Light Orchestra (KLO) Opportunities
|
Sponsor a family concert (not available every year) |
This is an interactive, fun-orientated concert for children, to help foster their interest in music. Ōtaki has the lowest decile schools on the Kāpiti Coast, and few opportunities for children to be introduced to orchestral instruments. Popular works are played at the concert, and children are invited to play with the orchestra. Parents and caregivers are asked to pay a nominal fee, and children attend free. Your contribution will go toward venue hire, purchase of new music, music arrangements, administration costs, conductor fees, prizes for competitions, venue decoration, and publicity. | $650 |
|
| Sponsor a concert in a retirement home |
The Kāpiti Coast has numerous retirement homes, with many having some residents with mobility issues which prevents them attending concerts. The KLO takes music to them, and requests for these concerts are growing year on year. Your contribution will go toward purchase of new music, music arrangements, administration costs, conductor fees. | $200 |
